What is the sustainability strategy and impact assessment?

The Sustainability Strategy and Impact Assessment is a bespoke service in which your data, processes, and circumstances are evaluated to produce recommendations and suggested next steps which are practical for and relevant to your organisation. The main part of the exercise takes place over the course of one day with the interaction between the Green Element team and members of your staff. It is an opportunity to engage all staff in this important project by seeking their input and collaboration.

First steps

  1. Introductory session to meet the team and talk you through the process
  2. Data gathering on energy, water, waste, and business travel (templates provided)
  3. Staff Survey to understand awareness and understanding of, as well as engagement with, the organisation’s environmental approach. Information gathered about the staff’s individual approach to the environment and sustainability

On the day

4. Interviews with staff and senior management to understand more about the business and help identify opportunities to reduce consumption and introduce sustainable initiatives

5. Engagement session with the staff to:

    • Feedback and discuss the survey findings
    • Share knowledge on key subjects, such as: What is Net-Zero? Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy
    • Discussions around ideas to enhance the organisation’s environmental values and initiative.

6. Report to senior management on key findings and recommendations

Outcome

  • Carbon Footprint report from Compare your Footprint:
    • Shows the results in various formats, including GHG Convention scopes
    • The report will remain on the Compare Your Footprint site after the assessment day with the option to add data and build year on year. (The Compare Your Footprint team can advise you on the various options available)
  • Customised report of findings featuring:
    • Context and relevant resources
    • Highlighting carbon hotspots
    • Recommendations for improvement and next steps
  • Employee survey findings
  • Engagement session materials
  • 6-month check in
