Today we are delighted to be joined by Danny Witter a co-founder of Work for Good. Work for Good is a social enterprise that purposes in getting business to give a little bit more to charity. Their mission is to create a channel that enables philanthropic funding for the charity work. They use this platform to invite both businesses and charities to sign up thereby enabling businesses to get to the charities easier.
What is your business superpower?
Our business superpower is that our business itself is unique. Our intent is to give immensely. Charitable giving is one part of the story but for us we go an extra mile. We provide to smaller businesses that do not have departments and dedicated resources on corporate responsibilities. We make it easy for them to plug in and play and continue with their business. We also embed charitable values into their businesses and help them execute on them.
How does Work for Good engage its staff, suppliers and customers with its mission and purpose?
We try different channels of marketing. In the early stages we approach the business directly ourselves although it takes a lot of effort. We also talk to various trade associations, use magazines and business clubs. We basically use any means that we can to get our story out there.
When it comes to running an ethical and sustainable business what has been your biggest struggle and how have you overcome it?
We are a still a young company since we have been running for 2 years now. Our business is therefore not rich in funding and we do not have profits to give away. However, we still focus on giving, for we practice what we preach. We prefer using no shows to free events and so we use this as our platform. We encourage our businesses and charities to be referring others to our platform and in turn 50cred for every referral they get goes to charity.
If you could offer one piece of advice to our listeners that would help them with their purpose what would it be?
My advice would be that giving in a business text is good. It is easy to do and is still good for your business. It’s never too early or too soon to start giving through your business.
